How much will it cost?
The cost depends on the complexity of the design, quality and quantity of materials used, and condition of existing site. I will discuss overall budget with client at the initial consultation phase and work within the budget cap set by the client. I will quote a design fee after learning about client’s scope and requirement. I have extensive experience with contractors so I know the ballpark figures on material and labor cost. So I can advise client on what is achievable after I hear client’s budget cap and project requirement.
How long will it take?
The length of design process depends on how many design revisions there are. Typically as soon as clients see the initial renderings, the visualization helps them get better at expressing and distilling their own ideas further. I try to complete design plan within 4 weeks after initial consultation. After final plan is delivered, the installation / implementation will depend on contractors’ availability and the weather!
Do we need the full service?
It’s up to the clients what kind of service they need. Hence I do not set a flat design fee. I have done simple projects such as helping client select home interior wall colors, to complex projects such as designing interiors of newly built custom homes. I have remodeled small residential courtyards, to designing large gardens with gazebos, water fountains, and outdoor fireplaces. No matter the scope or budget, I try to maximize the visual impact with cost effectiveness in mind. You will be surprised with how much improvement your house looks with simple remodeling or upgrades.
Do you build gardens yourself?
No. AGI is a design service company. However after the final design is delivered, I can help organize quotes from contractors or help monitor the installations with additional fee. I have years of experience working with contractors across various disciplines. Whomever I recommend or refer, keep in mind they are often someone I’ve hired to work on my own home! Like any client, I am also very picky about quality of craftsmanship and cost also.
Do you offer yard maintenance?
No. When I help a client select plants for the garden, I would take into consideration of the amount of yard work a client is willing to do. However, plants are like children or pets, they need to be fed and groomed on a regular basis. So if clients are not able to maintain the gardens themselves, it would be best to hire a gardener for minimum maintenance.
